How to Get a Loan Officer License

Register online 

Loan Officer Requirements:

60 hrs of CORE classroom training, including 4 hrs of ETHICS

OR

8 months of loan origination experience and 30 hrs of CORE classroom training, including 2 hrs of ETHICS

OR

Holds an active license as: Real Estate Broker or Attorney, or General Lines Agent, Limited Lines Agent, or Managing General Agent and 30 hrs CORE classroom training, including 2 hrs of ETHICS

A complete Loan Officer application includes the following documents:

  • Complete and notarized Application
  • Green Card and/or Immigration Status documents providing your alien number (if applicable)
  • Evidence of Experience
  • Evidence of Education (if applicable)
  • Documentation regarding criminal history, civil litigations, and regulatory history (if applicable)
  • Completed and Signed FBI Applicant Finger Print Card (outside Texas applicants ONLY)
  • Copy of Pre-licensing Examination Certificate issued by Pearson VUE.
  • Check or Money Order for all applicable fees payable to: Texas Department of Savings and Mortgage Lending
