The questions to ask every real estate school - Before you waste time and
money!
You want a school that knows real estate, where the owners
and instructors are experienced, who actively list, sell and
invest and can teach you to do the same. You want a school that
offers a broad course range, not just pre-licensing courses
– one that offers live, online and correspondence courses
to fit your schedule. You want a school that can show you the
steps to success; what you do to get started after you obtain
your license. HINT: If they rent space, do not have a permanent
location, or have a small market share, there is a reason.
Ask these questions while interviewing schools:
1. Have the owners themselves actually listed and sold real
estate?
2. Do the owners invest in real estate?
3. Do the Instructors list and sell; are they experienced as
well?
4. Do you offer Live, Online AND correspondence courses?
5. Do you own your own building or do you just rent?
6. Do you have a permanent facility or are your classes held
in hotel rooms?
7. Do you offer any courses beyond the state-required minimum
courses? What are they?
8. Are live classes available where you can talk to real estate
brokers about all the different hiring, training and commission
split programs?
9. Do you have professional development courses?
10. Will you teach me how to turn my career into a business?
11. How many homes have the owners actually listed and sold?
12. Have the owners ever managed a real estate office?
13. Is the owner’s resume’ available?
14. Do you have investing courses available?
15. Do you have high-level coaching/mentoring programs?
16. What is your market share according to the Texas Real Estate
Commission?
17. Can you send me those stats?
18. Do you offer free lunches?
19. Have you created your own professional development training
programs or do you buy them from someone else?
20. Do you have an on-site Realtor Store with business and
investing products available?
21. Have the owners ever authored a book explaining how to
actually get rich in real estate?
As you can see by these questions, where you go to school,
who teaches you and what you learn does affect your success!
